I volunteer for HRC so that someday all kids can grow up to be whoever they are, and have equal rights to live authentically. I began volunteering with HRC over 12 years ago because someone in my family who I love, who is LGBTQ - asked me to. As an ally, it is with pride that I get to play a small role in hopefully protecting all those LGBTQ people in the US and beyond. None of us are free, until we all are, without exception. My role with HRC now is giving my time, treasure, and talent and encouraging others to do the same.
My "why" motto? Find something you care about more than yourself and fight like hell for it. It will make you a far better version of yourself.
I live in Boston, Massachusetts.
